This special reading of Waa’aka’: The Bird Who Fell in Love with the Sun by Cindi Alvitre (Tongva) and illustrator Carly Lake is part of Memory and Futurity in Yaangna, a series of programs by the LA County Library, LA County Department of Arts & Culture, the Native American Indian Commission and Meztli Projects, centering the artists and narratives of Yaangna's original peoples, the Tongva, Tataviam and Chumash.
