Internship Description

The IndigenARTS & Wellness Internship will support Meztli Projects’ programming as it relates to Arts-Based Healing Practices and projects that bridge collaborative art-making, wellness, and healing opportunities for community members. The intern will support the Meztli Projects team through research, outreach, and engagement with Tribal Elders, Facilitators, Practitioners, and Leaders to inform the growth of the IndigenARTS & Wellness programs and projects. The intern will learn various strategies around holding space, facilitation, and how Indigenous practices have informed current approaches to care systems. The intern will develop a "zine" highlighting Elders and practitioners around and connected to LA County. *The majority of these Elders and practitioners are artists who have set aside their creative careers to tend to community healing.

IndigenARTS & Wellness blends Indigenous practices and collaborative art-making with mental health and wellness support, using various art-forms to generate dialogue and understanding around intergenerational trauma & resiliency, sexual & gendered violence, systemic violence, art as medicine & a healing tool, to process, reflect and work towards individual & collective wellness and also inform the creative practice of artists.
