Internship Description
meztli projects seeks an Exhibitions Intern to support our ongoing efforts to uplift, resource, and highlight Native and Indigenous artists and their creative journey. meztli projects’ commissioned artworks for exhibitions such as The Iridescence of Knowing at OXY ARTS, The Land Sustains Us (LA Plaza/Getty PST ART: Art & Science Collide), Refractions: Contemporary Indigenous Art (Annenberg Community Beach House, Santa Monica), and Tobacco Embers at Ave 50 Studio among other works will be the core source of the interns’ archival and documentation work.
The intern will help develop a database ensuring each work contains all pertinent artist info, statements, descriptions, and other relevant content such as artistic intent. To accomplish this the intern will interview artists, and research content related to the artwork. Additionally, the intern will review and analyze our previous exhibitions and learn the technical aspects of organizing and curating exhibitions from a decolonial and Indigenous approach. Lastly, the intern will use the information provided by artists and curators to develop narratives that center on Indigenous forms of cultural production. The narratives and artworks will be available on our website advancing the accessibility of artworks by Native and Indigenous artists.
Applicants should be available for work between Monday, June 16, 2025, and Friday, August 22, 2025, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some weekend dates.

Arts Summit is a career day for the Getty Marrow Undergraduate interns which entails an artist keynote, presentations and panels by arts professionals providing an overview of their work and careers, professional development sessions, and networking opportunities.
Learning Community Events (in-person, various locations)
Two of the following dates: Learning Community events (2 dates selected from July 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31)
Learning Community Leaders will announce two dates by the end of June.
Eligibility Criteria for Intern Candidates
Internships are intended for members of groups underrepresented in professions related to museums and the visual arts, including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent. Intern candidates can be sought from all areas of undergraduate study and are not required to have demonstrated a previous commitment to the visual arts. In addition, each intern candidate must meet the following eligibility criteria: (1) intern must be a currently enrolled undergraduate and have completed at least one semester of college by June 2024; and (2) intern must be a resident of or attend college in Los Angeles County.
Intern Period
The internship must take place during a consecutive 10-week period beginning no sooner than June 16, 2025, and ending no later than August 22, 2025. The intern must work full-time (no more than 40 hours a week, approx. 400 hours total).
